Phy, regular users will be unaffected by the validation proceedures. Even in
the case of wanting to set up a second account--just E-mail one of the Sysops
from your "Phydeaux" account, and we'll take care of it for you without
rigamorole.
We aren't planning to "clamp down" on language, or anything like that. There
is no reason to upset the regular users because of the actions of one person.
So from your perspective, there won't be any changes.

All right, all right. Everyone mellow out. It will be nice to find out who
Biff is and stop him, but BBSing won't gain a damn thing if you all run around
accusing one another. Greg, take note of the fact that at least one of the
"Phydeaux is Biff" messages was meant in jest, and the second seemed to just be
a follow-up.
For everyone, stop to consider that after all that has occured, anyone
linked to the Biff account is most likely going to be finished in the SB BBS
community. So don't make accusations on the boards unless you have some very
strong evidence. For one thing--If you're wrong, it'll backfire, and people
would see you (you generically--I don't mean the three individuals named) as a
vicious opportunist. You can't be in a mudslinging contest without getting
dirty.
Anyone who does think they have evidence should E-mail a sysop--any sysop.
We're working together on this one, and any legitimate claim will be followed
up. But no more public stuff saying so-and-so is Biff--please!! You're
hurting yourself, and the boards, when you do that.

I vote for opening the system back up again, with a provision:
New users (unverified) only get to post one message in each base, until their
verify bit is set (not bad since one usually leaves a single message per base
anyhow) and maybe one message to any user (other than sysops, to speed up
verification). Fun with modems!

Yes, it's quite different from here, mainly because most boards are
specialized--there are Commodore boards, Apple boards, Atari boards, CP/M
boards, IBM boards; gaming boards, ham radio boards, dating boards, etc.
There is no board that I have seen that even remotely resembles the Enterprize,
Empire, Citadel, Stonehenge, or what have you. Most users rarely call more
than one board, and the ones who do are usually only on a certain group of
boards. There is a heavy segregation of users... while here in S.B. there
seems to be a BBS melting pot. I have a list of BBS's from the southern area
of L.A. and may upload it to Compucations if you're interested.
